network such as device, channel, network variable, or connection. This section

describes how to work with OpenLNS CT SmartShapes.

Viewing and Setting OpenLNS CT SmartShape Properties

You can view and set the properties of an OpenLNS CT SmartShape. If you modify the properties
with OpenLNS CT attached to the network and OnNet, the changes will be sent to the physical devices
immediately. Otherwise, the changes will be stored in the OpenLNS database and then propagated to
the physical devices when OpenLNS CT is attached and placed OnNet.

To view the properties of an OpenLNS CT SmartShape, right-click the SmartShape and select
Properties from the shortcut menu. A Properties dialog box opens. For a description of the
properties that you can view and modify, click Help in the dialog box.

Moving an OpenLNS CT SmartShape

You can move an OpenLNS CT SmartShape within an OpenLNS CT drawing. You can reposition it
within the current subsystem; move it into a different subsystem; or change the channel in on which it
is located, which can be in the same or in a different subsystem. You cannot move an OpenLNS CT
SmartShape using Visio’s cut and paste commands.

Repositioning an OpenLNS CT SmartShape

You can re-position any OpenLNS CT SmartShape within a subsystem by dragging it to a different
location on the same drawing page.

Changing the Subsystem for an OpenLNS CT SmartShape

You can move a device, router, functional block, and subsystem SmartShape into another subsystem.
To do this, follow these steps:

1. Right-click the SmartShape. You can select multiple SmartShapes by holding down CTRL and

clicking the SmartShapes, or clicking an empty space in the drawing page and dragging a selection
net around the SmartShapes.
