A.3 Using the Pour-Thru Cell

Most HACH methods prescribe the use of round cells.

When a Pour-Thru cell is used, the measurement results of these
HACH methods must be multiplied by a dilution factor of 0.95 or
revised with the help of a standard adjustment (see

6.2 Standard

Addition – Monitoring/Checking Results (DR 2800 only) on page
84

). The appropriately revised method can be stored as a user

program. If the use of a Pour-Thru cell is prescribed in a HACH
method, no adjustment is needed.

A Pour-Thru cell can be used for a HACH method if the prescribed
sample volume is 25 ml.

Although the Pour-Thru cell can be used for the following HACH
methods, the cell must be thoroughly purged with distilled water
between individual samples.

HACH methods for which additional purging of the
Pour-Thru Cell is necessary

The Pour-Thru Cell can also be used to run Nitrogen, Ammonia,
Nessler Method and TKN chemistries. Clean the cell by pouring a
few sodium thiosulfate pentahydrate crystals into the cell. Rinse out
the crystals with deionized water.
