Setting Port Labels

The following section describes how to set port labels to reduce the number of
configuration rules you create in the HP EFS WAN Accelerator.

Creating Port
Labels

Optionally, you can create a list of ports and give them a label in the Setup: Port Labels
page. You can use a port label for a set of ports instead of configuring rules for each
port thus reducing the number of configuration rules in the system. The following rules
apply to port labels:

‹

Port labels are not case sensitive and can be any string consisting of letters,
numbers, underscore ( _ ), or a hyphen ( - ). There cannot be spaces in port labels.

‹

The fields in the various rule pages of the Management Console that take a
physical port number also take a port label.

‹

You should avoid using a number as a port label to avoid confusion.

‹

Port labels that are used in in-path and other rules, such as QoS, and peering rules
cannot be deleted.

‹

Port label changes (that is, adding and remove ports inside a label) are applied
immediately by the rules that use the port labels that you have modified.

The following port labels are created by default:

‹

Interactive Port Label. Automatically passes through traffic on interactive ports
(for example, Telnet, TCP ECHO, remote logging, and shell).

‹

Secure Port Label. Automatically pass-through traffic on commonly secure
ports (for example, ssh, https, and smtps).

If you do not want to automatically forward traffic on these ports, you must delete the
Interactive and Secure in-path rules. For detailed information, see

“Setting In-Path

Rules” on page 26

.

For a complete list of interactive and secure ports that are automatically forwarded, see

Appendix A, “HP EFS WAN Accelerator Ports.”
