Specifying Data Link properties

The

Microsoft Data Link Properties

window opens when you select

Other

as the database type and

then click

Build String

.

To specify the data link properties:

On the

Provider

tab, select one of the following OLE DB providers, then click

Next

:

> Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server

> Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers

Your ODBC DataSource must be either Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb) or Microsoft SQL
Driver.

On the

Connection

tab, specify the appropriate settings. The available settings depend on the

provider that you selected.

After specifying the connection settings, click

Test Connection

. When the system displays the

“Test connection successful” message, click

OK

.

Click

OK

to return to the

Configure Datasource

window.

Click

Test Connection

, then click

OK

.

The

Data Field Selector

window opens. It displays the connection information that you

specified.

Provider

Settings

Microsoft OLE DB Provider
for SQL Server

Step 1: Enter or select the server name.
Step 2: Select Use specific user name and password, and then
enter the appropriate user name and password. Then select Allow
saving password
; this allows the connector to use the password
from the device to access the database.

Step 3: Select the database on your SQL server from which you
want to obtain index values.

Microsoft OLE DB Provider
for ODBC Drivers

Step 1: Select a preconfigured data source.

Step 2: Enter the user name and password required to log on to
the server. Then select Allow saving password; this allows the
connector to use the password from the device to access the
database.
Step 3: Select the initial catalog from which you want to obtain
index values.
