Diagnosing Faults

Chapter 8

8-2

Primary (PRI) and Secondary (SEC) LED Indicators

Table 8.B lists the possible states of the PRI and SEC LEDs and provides
the recommended actions to take in case of a fault.

hardware failure
(see FLT LEDs)

If all LEDs are off, the module is not receiving
any power. Remove the module and reinstall it
into the I/O chassis. Turn on the power.

If the FLT LED is lit, the module has internal
hardware failure. Cycle power to the I/O chassis;
if the failure condition persists, replace the
1785-BCM module.

PRI

SEC

power turn on hardware failure
(refer to other LEDs)

At power turn on, all the LEDs light until,
one-by-one they assume their normal state. If
the LEDs light during operation, a hardware
failure exists. Cycle power to the I/O chassis; if
the failure condition persists, replace the
1785-BCM module.

Backplane (BPLN), Serial (SER), and Fault (FLT) LED Indicators

Table 8.C lists the possible states of the BPLN, SER, and FLT LEDs, and
provides the recommended actions to take in case of a fault.

ATTENTION: When all secondary 1785-BCM module status
indicators are blinking, except the FLT indicator, there is a
switch-setting error. Check that switch assemblies SW1 and
SW2 switches are set in the same positions on both the primary
and secondary modules.
