Using a Series A 1785-BCM Module

This appendix briefly describes the differences between a 1785-BCM
series A backup module and a 1785-BCM Series B backup module.

The series A version of the 1785-BCM module has the following
differences from the series B version of the 1785-BCM module.

It communicates only with the PLC-5/15 and PLC-5/25 processor.

Series A modules cannot communicate with PLC-5/20, -5/30, -5/40,
-5/60, or -5/80 processors.

The module is not compatible with the 1785-BEM backup expansion

module.

The module has a maximum data segment length of 16 blocks.

The module has no remote programming capability for secondary

processor.

The module has no user-configurable communication channels. The

1785-BCM series A module has two fixed communication links: one for
connection with Remote I/O and one for Data Highway Plus. Refer to
Figure C.1 on page C-2.

The module operates only with the fast mode disabled.

The module has no switches to set.

The series A module High-Speed Serial Link operates at 115 kbaud; the

series B module operates at 1.2 Megabits.
