Applying FLEX Ex Analog I/O Modules
What this Chapter Contains Read this chapter to learn how to use entity parameters when electrically
interconnecting your FLEX Ex analog I/O module in a hazardous area.
The FLEX Ex system is different from traditional control systems used the
intrinsic safety in its ability to be located directly in hazardous areas and to
embrace high speed network-based control.
Evaluate the Application Follow these steps when designing a FLEX Ex system for your application:
1. Define the area classification.
2. Select protection method(s).
3. Match field devices and I/O modules.
4. Optimize power distribution.
5. Layout the ControlNet Ex network.
