Cyanuric acid is added to swimming pool water as a stabilizing agent for free

chlorine residuals. It minimizes the loss of chlorine from the action of ultraviolet rays

in sunlight. Cyanuric acid levels should be maintained between 25 and 75 ppm and

various public health associations recommend that the concentration should never

exceed 100–150 ppm.
