Manage Printer Groups

Types of Groups

There are 3 types of printer groups:

System - System group contains rules defined by the OMPM system. You cannot create or modify the

rules in these groups.

Static - Static group does not have any rules defined for automatic allocation of printers to it. You

can create a static printer group and manually add printers to it.

Dynamic - Dynamic group contains defined rules. All printers that satisfy the rules of a dynamic

group are included in that group. During discovery, a printer is evaluated against the rules of the

dynamic group and if a printer satisfies the rules, it is placed in the corresponding dynamic group.

While creating a dynamic printer group, you can choose to include printers that have already

been discovered.

NOTE:

If a printer satisfies the rules of more than one group, it is added to multiple groups.

There are 8 system provided printer groups:

• Color
• Mono
• Critical
• Warning
• Normal
• All Printers
• All Blocked Printers
• All Ungrouped Printers

NOTE:

You can include a printer in more than one printer group.

Color

A color group is a group of printers that produce color output.

Mono

A mono group is a group of printers that produce monochrome output.
