5.4.2 Installing the New Front Panel Board

1. Tilt the new FP board and slide it toward the front of the chassis so the RJ45 COM2 and USB

connectors fit through the slot on the front panel of the chassis and the two keyhole slots fit over the
standoffs on the front panel board shelf bracket. (Figure 50, “A” and “B”).

2. Replace and tighten the screws on the board to secure the board to the front panel shelf bracket.

3. Reconnect all of the cables on the FP board. For locations of each header on the board, see Figure

48.

3.1. Reconnect the multifunction power and signal cable that comes from fan control board.

3.2. Re connect the SSI front panel board cable that comes from the baseboard.

3.3. Reconnect the LED/switch board power and signal cable.

3.4. Reconnect the TAM module alarms cable.

3.5. Reconnect the SD flash module USB cable.

4. Re-install the sheet metal fan cage. For assistance, see “Removing the Fan Cage”.

5. Replace all six fans back into the cage. For instructions, see “Replacing Fans”.

6. Replace the support cross bar and any components that were attached to it, such as the CPU air duct

and the riser card assemblies. For assistance, see “Removing the Support Cross Bar”.

7. Route the CPU1 and CPU2 cables back across the fan cage and fold the protective insulator back

over them. Route the CPU2 cable through the insulator along the chassis wall.
Re-connect the cables to the connectors on the server board.
