4.0 Diagnostics Functions

From the Diagnostics menu (see Figure 4-1), the customer can use the Diagnostics functions to
set up loopback, VLAN loopback, latency and jitter, cable diagnostics, and PING tests, and to
configure and run the Performance Management Optional Features.The following paragraphs
describe each item on the Diagnostics menu.

4.1 Loopback Setup

From the Loopback Setup screen, the customer can initiate and configure the 9145 for loopback
diagnostics. Packets are looped back based on the MAC address of the 9145. The 9145 is con-
figured to swap origination and destination MAC addresses of the test packets and to recalculate
the CRC of the looped packet when the MAC addresses are swapped. From the Diagnostics
menu, type 1 and press <Enter>. The Loopback Setup screen (see Figure 4-2) appears. Type
the number of the function you want to change, and press <Enter>.Use <Space> to toggle
through predetermined settings. Once the setting has been chosen, press <Enter> to lock it in
place. Continue to modify the settings as required. To return to the Diagnostics menu, press
<Esc>.
