Symptoms

Check items

Bad communication caused by noise 19. Is there any possibility that the unit is disturbed by insufficient grounding or lack of cable

shielding?
We recommend that you connect a grounding wire to the SIGNAL GND terminal on the

rear, and use shielded cables.

20. Is there any noise source such as fluorescent light, transformer, welding machine or the

like adjacent to the unit?

Separate the noise source from the unit or vice versa.

21. Is there any cable running along the power line or near the noise sources?

Separate the noise source from the cable or vice versa.

Taking a long time to connect

22, Are there too many packet data or frequent traffic that can exceed over the LAN capacity?

Consult a LAN expert or administrator for study on the LAN capacity.

Frozen image displayed during com­
munication

23. Is there any cable disconnection?

Check the cable connection. Communication will resume automatically if the cable gets

back in a short time. When communication is disconnected once and the 410 RE-CON-

NECTION is set to ON. the unit will reconnect to the network after a while.

Sound interruption

Communication interruption

25. Same as 23 above.

Poor image quality during communi­

cation

26. Is the VIDEO QUALITY set properly?

Set the 450 VIDEO menu to a higher rate as far as the network capability and traffic permit.

27. Are both units set to Receiver?

Set one unit to a Transmitter.

28. Is the opposite site busy in communication?

Wait for a while, then retry to connect.

Reoeived images do not appear on
the Control site monitor.

29. Is the monitor connection made properly?

Connect the monitor to the MONI/SPOT terminal.

30. Is communication carried out properly between the Control and Remote site?

Check

31. Is camera selection made properly?

Make camera selection from the points where cameras are connected. To make selection,

open the 510 CAMERA*PRESET*TRIGGER OUT menu.

Howling

32. Is the microphone placed close to the speaker?

Move the microphone away from the speaker, or level down the speaker output.

No audio supplied

33. Is the mode set to JPEG?

Audio transmission is not available when JPEG is selected.

34. Is the speaker connection made properly?

Connect the AUDIO OUT terminal to the speaker via the amplifier.

35. Are the volume controls adjusted properly on both the Remote and Control sites?

This unit accepts and supplies line level audio signals. Thus a pre-amp is necessary on
the Remote site, and an output amplifier is needed on the Control site. Adjust the sound
level properly with the volume controls.

36. Is the AUDIO menu set properly on both the Remote and Control sites?

Open the 440 AUDIO menu, and set an appropriate parameter to your place. Settings
must be identical for both the Remote and Control sites.

37. Is the AUDIO menu set to OFF?

If Yes, audio transmission will not be carried out. Select other than OFF in the 440 AUDIO

menu when you need audio.

38. Is the MUTE function activated on the other site?

Stop muting.

Alarm dialing malfunction

39. Is the sensor connection made properly?

Refer to Connection on page 24 and 25.

40. Is the alarm dialing registration made properly?

Check the 462 through 464 ALARM DIALING TABLE.

41. Is the sensor signal reception set properly?

Check the ALARM TYPE selection in the 461 ALARM SETUP menu. When LEVEL is select­
ed, the sensor signal must continue until the call ends. When EDGE is selected, the signal

must be active for at least 100 ms without chattering.

Unwanted Connection

42. Is any sensor malfunctioning?

Check sensors with a circuit tester whether activated although the conditions do not meet.

Repair connections, or re-arrange the conditions such as sensor's directions, positions

and surroundings if applicable.

View Point/Alarm View Point malfunc­
tion

43. Is the VIEW POINT SETUP made properly?

Check the 430/530 VIDEO SWITCH SETUP menu. When you let the view point settings

interlock with the sensor inputs, set the ALARM to ON in the VIDEO SWITCH SETUP menu.

Site operation at the Remote site

44. Is an exclusive controller connected to the unit properly?

Refer to Connection on page 31.

Combination Camera Control failure 45. Is the line connected properly?

If not, try to reconnect. The Control site can manipulate cameras on the Remote site only

when the communication is established between the sites.

46. is the camera Panasonic made?

Only Panasonic’s Combination camera is controllable with this unit for pan/tilt, zoom, focus

and so forth.
