Put button in carrier and slide clamp back
with thumb of left hand. Length of buttonhole
is set by button carrier clamp on foot.
Pull down buttonhole lever as far as it will go.
making sure it is between tabs on foot.
Raise presser foot lifter.
Touch I straight stitch.
Hold top thread lightly with left hand and turn
hand wheel slowly toward you until needle en
ters the plate. Be careful that you do not run
the machine during this procedure. Continue
turning hand wheel and holding top thread un
til needle rises. Tighten your hold on top
thread and bring up bobbin thread in a loop.
Release top thread.
Slide scissors between foot and underplate
and draw both top and bobbin threads
diagonally toward the back of the foot, leaving
approximately 4 inches (10cm) of thread.
