AE: Auto Exposure

After the exposure is locked, you can adjust the combination
of shutter speed and aperture value by turning the [

] dial

(Program Shift).

Adjust the metering method (how brightness is measured) to suit shooting

conditions as follows.

Press the [ ] button, choose [ ] in the

menu, and choose the desired option

(= 30).

The option you configured is now

displayed.

Evaluative

For typical shooting conditions, including backlit

shots. Automatically adjusts exposure to match the

shooting conditions.

Center

Weighted

Avg.

Determines the average brightness of light across

the entire image area, calculated by treating

brightness in the central area as more important.

Spot

Metering restricted to within the [

] (Spot AE Point

frame). You can also link the Spot AE Point frame to

the AF frame (= 80).

The standard exposure set by the camera can be adjusted in 1/3-stop

increments, in a range of -3 to +3.

As you watch the screen, turn the

exposure compensation dial to adjust

brightness.

Locking Image Brightness / Exposure (AE Lock)

Movies

Before shooting, you can lock the exposure, or you can specify focus and

exposure separately.

Lock the exposure.

Aim the camera at the subject to shoot

with the exposure locked, and then press

the [ ] button.

z

[ ] is displayed, and the exposure is

locked.

z

To unlock AE, press the [ ] button again.

[ ] is no longer displayed.

Compose the shot and shoot.
