Troubleshooting suspended Continuous Access XP Journal pairs

Suspend

Description

Corrective action

PSUE, by

RCU

Primary data

volume

Primary disk array suspended a pair

because the primary disk array

detected an error condition at the

secondary disk array. The suspend

type for the secondary data volume is

by MCU.

Clear the error condition at the

secondary disk array or secondary

data volume. To access the secondary

data volume, delete the pair from the

primary disk array. If data in the

secondary data volume has been

changed, delete the pair from the

primary disk array, and recreate the

pair using the Paircreate pane. If data

in the secondary data volume has not

been changed, restore the pair from

the primary disk array.

PSUE, S-VOL

Failure

Primary data

volume

Primary disk array detected an error

during communication with the

secondary disk array or detected an

I/O error during update copy. In this

case, the suspend type for the

secondary data volume is usually by

MCU.

Check the path status on the DKC

Status pane (see

Table 29

).

Clear any error conditions at the

secondary disk array and secondary

data volume. To access the secondary

data volume, delete the pair from the

secondary disk array. If data in the

secondary data volume has been

changed, delete the pair from the

primary disk array, and recreate the

pair using the Paircreate pane. If data

in the secondary data volume has not

been changed, restore the pair from

the primary disk array.

PSUE, MCU

IMPL

Primary data

volume,

secondary data

volume

Primary disk array could not find valid

control information in its nonvolatile

memory during the IMPL procedure.

This error occurs only if the primary

disk array is without power for more

than 48 hours (power failure and fully

discharged batteries).

Restore the pair (pairresync) from the

primary disk array. The primary disk

array performs an initial copy

operation in response to the pairresync

request, so the entire primary data

volume is copied to the secondary

data volume.

PSUE, Initial

Copy Failed

Primary data

volume,

secondary data

volume

Primary disk array suspended this pair

during the initial copy operation. Data

on the secondary data volume is not

identical to data on the primary data

volume.

Delete the pair from the primary disk

array. Clear all error conditions at the

primary disk array, primary data

volume, secondary disk array, and

secondary data volume. Restart the

initial copy operation using the

Paircreate pane.

PSUE, MCU

P/S-OFF

Secondary data

volume

Primary disk array suspended all

Continuous Access XP Journal pairs

because the primary disk array was

powered off.

None. Primary disk array

automatically restores these

Continuous Access XP Journal pairs

when the primary disk array is

powered on.

PSUS,

Journal

Cache

Overflow

Primary data

volume,

secondary data

volume

Journal cache remains full over the

timeout period.

Add cache memory, increase the

number of paths between the primary

and secondary disk arrays, or

decrease the number of Continuous

Access XP Journal pairs or host I/Os.
