Chapter 9: The CANopen Configurator

The CAN bus configuration tools, listed below, are based on CiA DS305 CANopen Layer
Setting Services (LSS) services and protocols. The tools were created to enable the following
parameters to be read and changed through the network:

• The CANopen Node ID
• The CAN bus baud rate

The CANopen Configurator can be used when the Maestro is the LSS Master and all
the nodes that are on the CAN bus are LSS Slaves. An LSS Slave is identified by an LSS
Address. An LSS Address consists of a Vendor ID, a Product Code, a Revision Number and
a Serial Number. The Vendor ID and Product Code are numerical numbers. The Revision
Number contains the major and minor revision in numerical form. The Serial Number is
coded numerically as well.

Caution: The CANopen Configurator puts the CANopen Master (that

is, the Maestro) into configuration mode. In this mode, the
Maestro device does not control the Slaves. The Maestro
configuration should NOT be performed while a machine is
running.

Note:

The CANopen Configurator requires Microsoft .NET
Framework 2.0 to run.
