LC DISPLAY BACKLIGHT & CONTRAST

The 9850 features a white LED Backlit Liquid Crystal Display. The LED Backlight is one of the highest power

drain devices in the 9850. The Backlight can be set to turn itself off automatically after a user sepcified time.

Once off, the Backlight will turn back on by pushing any key (except

POWER

). The first key press, no matter

which key it is, will be ignored, except for turning the Backlight on. Then key function is restored. The Backlight

can also be set to turn back on when the active channel scale changes its reading (goes in motion). There are 3

levels of brightness with a setting of 0 being another way to turn it off. AC or DC supply powered 9850’s can

and should choose to leave the backlight on at full (3) brightness. In battery powered units, battery life can be

extended through the use of the power down modes and reduced brightness settings.

1) Press

SETUP

,

DISPLAY

,

[3]

. The BACKLIGHT menu

appears. Select the desired on time from 2-6. Off (1) is

usually not desired as this is a transmissive display and has

poor contrast without a backlight. On AC Powered units,

choice 6, always on, is the preferred choice.

2) Press

[7]

to change the Light on Motion setting from OFF

to ON. When ON, the backlight will turn back on whenever

the current scale channel changes its reading. However set-

ting Light on Motion On may prevent the backlight from

ever turning off, thus decreasing battery life in battery

powered units.

3) Press

ESC

to backup to the SCALE DISPLAY SETUP

menu. Press

[4]

to change the backlight brightness level.

A setting of 0 turns off the backlight. 4 is the brightest. Set

the brightness level as low as is useful in your environment.

Press

ENTER

to set your brightness choice.
