5.6.2 Resolution

The S15 can display resolutions from 640x480 to 1600x1280 with a variety of
refresh rates. The AIX device driver provides support for these resolutions, and
depending on the display which is used, AIX can display the following resolutions
and refresh rates:

1600x1280 @ 60 Hz

1280x1024 @ 77 Hz

1280x1024 @ 75 Hz

1280x1024 @ 60 Hz

1024x768 @ 85 Hz

1024x768 @ 76 Hz

1024x768 @ 75 Hz

1024x768 @ 72 Hz

1024x768 @ 70 Hz

1024x768 @ 60 Hz

800x600 @ 85 Hz

800x600 @ 75 Hz

800x600 @ 72 Hz

5.6.3 Configuring the Adapter

For AIX to take full advantage of the S15 graphics adapter, you will have to tell AIX
the type of display you have attached to the system. This operation can be
performed by SMIT. If, for example, we have connected a P200 display, we can
configure this by going to the SMIT panel titled Select the Display Type by using
the fastpath:

smit g_display

Select the Display Type

Select the graphics adapter you want to configure (if you have installed two in the
F30, you will be presented with two options). After you have selected the adapter,
you will be presented with the screen shown in Figure 30 on page 95.
