8.2.1.1 Configuring ISA Adapters from Diagnostics

As mentioned above, when booting into diagnostics from CD-ROM, you can only
test the ISA adapters in your system after they have been configured. The
configuration is only for diagnostics purposes and will not affect the adapters
configuration in AIX.

The following procedure explains how to configure an adapter using diagnostics.
For the purpose of the explanation, we have used an 8-port adapter as an
example.

1. Before you boot into diagnostics, note the ISA adapter parameters which are

set for the adapter(s) you wish to test. These will either be the parameters you
entered to install the card (see 6.3, “ISA Adapter Configuration” on page 104)
or parameters you have set on the card if the card has not yet been configured
by AIX. For our example, we used an 8-port adapter and the only parameter
we had to record was the Bus I/O Address.

2. Boot into diagnostics from CD-ROM as explained above.

3. Select Service Aids.

4. Select ISA Adapter Configuration Service Aid. This will provide you with a

menu like the one shown in Figure 43.
