operations with NAS Blade

This chapter describes how to use Continuous Access XP Journal with the TagmaStore USP NAS Blade.

This chapter assume you:

Are familiar with Linux or UNIX computers.

Have read all of the previous chapters and fully understand the overview, requirements, and

restrictions for Continuous Access XP Journal.

Have read the HP StorageWorks RAID Manager XP user guide and have a thorough

understanding of RAID Manager XP operations.

Have read the NAS Backup Restore User's Guide and fully understand the operations of NAS

Blade systems.

Overview of Continuous Access XP Journal operations in NAS

Blade systems

The NAS Blade system enables integrated management of data in the array. NAS Blade uses the LAN

environment already in place and enables data within an array to be shared across heterogeneous

platforms. You can also use NAS Blade to copy and maintain data stored in the array using Continuous

Access XP Journal's remote copy feature in the local array. With Continuous Access XP Journal, you can

copy data using the NAS server (even in the remote center), back up data to guard against failures in

primary data volumes, and perform disaster recovery at the primary site.
To use Continuous Access XP Journal in the NAS Blade system, use RAID Manager XP for Linux in the

local array. If you install NAS Backup Restore on the NAS Blade system, RAID Manager XP for Linux

is installed at the same time. You do not need to install the RAID Manager XP included with the local

array to the NAS Blade system.
