NOTE:

If you delete the Continuous Access XP Synchronous pair created in step 2, the Continuous

Access XP Journal delta resync contingency pair created in step 6 is deleted as well.

In addition, if you delete the Continuous Access XP Journal pair created in step 6, the

secondary data volume of the Continuous Access XP Journal pair created in step 6 is

deleted. In this case, you can only perform the delete operation on the remaining primary

data volume.

Requirements for creating Continuous Access XP Journal pairs for delta resync operations

To create a Continuous Access XP Journal pair for delta resync operations, the following are required:

Create the pair in a 3DC multi-target configuration.

Use the Continuous Access XP Synchronous S-VOL in PAIR status as the delta resync contingency

primary data volume.

Use the Continuous Access XP Journal data volume in PAIR status as the delta resync contingency

secondary data volume.

Use the mirror ID from 1 to 3 that is not used by the secondary data volume.

Fulfill the conditions to combine Continuous Access XP Journal with other functions in

Table 18

.

The system option mode 506 must be set to ON at all sites

In addition to these requirements, all Continuous Access XP Journal pairs in the journal group must

satisfy the following requirements when creating more than one Continuous Access XP Journal pair for

delta resync operation.

Use the same mirror ID for all pairs.

Use the same restore journal group for all pairs.

Requirements for performing delta resync operations

To perform delta resync operations properly, you must specify a Continuous Access XP Journal pair that

belongs to the journal group whose Continuous Access XP Journal pairs meet the following requirements.

If any Continuous Access XP Journal pair in the journal group does not meet the requirements, an error

occurs even if the specified Continuous Access XP Journal pair meets the requirements.

Primary data volume's status is HOLD.

Use the Continuous Access XP Synchronous pair's secondary volume as the delta resync

contingency primary data volume.
If you use the Continuous Access XP Synchronous P-VOL, the pair status should be PAIR.
If you use the Continuous Access XP Synchronous S-VOL, the pair status should be SSWS.

NOTE:

Check the pair status after executing the RAID Manager XP horctakeover command.

Secondary data volume uses two mirror IDs; the status of the secondary volume using one of

the two mirror IDs is HOLD, and the status of the secondary volume using the other mirror ID is

PAIR, PSUS, or PSUE.

All differential data between the primary and secondary data volume is stored in the master

journal group.
