Operation

4.5 Performing a Combustion Test

Ensure that the followng has been completed, and then proceed wth the

combuston test as descrbed below:
• Turn ON analyzer and allow t to warm up (Secton 4.2).

• Select fuel beng burned (Secton 4.3).

• Inset probe nto stack (Secton 4.4).

• If necessary, nsert optonal prmary ar thermocouple nto combuston-

ar stream of burners that use an outsde source of combuston ar.

1. Press the RUN/HOLD button to start the test.

You should hear the pump start runnng and

see the word RUN appear at the top of the

Combuston Test screen.

2. Press the ENT button to vew the varous

combuston test screens that contan the data

lsted n Table 4-1 on Page 4-6.

The screens to the rght show typcal combus-

ton test data for an analyzer equpped wth

sensors.

TIP: Use the zoom-display to show only the

values of O

2

, CO, and efficiency in large char-

acters. Refer to Section 3.13.

Sensor Indicators: The followng ndcators

appear n the sensor's data feld dependng on

certan condtons:

(

∗ ∗ ∗

) Sensor that s not calbrated or defectve.

(XXX) Sensor overrange
(

) The calculated data cannot be dsplayed

because the measured data necessary to make

the calculaton s out of range (.e., oxygen level

above 16%).

3. Press ENT untl T-STK s dsplayed. Loosen

thumbscrew on probe stop and move probe n

and out of the stack untl the stack’s core tem-

perature (hot spot) s located as ndcated

by the hghest T-STK readng; then tghten

thumbscrew to prevent further probe move-

ment. Locating the highest stack temperature

is very important for accurate efficiency calculations.
