3. Note: If you enter a value outside the range set for that variable,

an error message appears:

Minimum = –1000

numeric format)

ASCII Entry variables (if the entered data is displayed in numeric
format)

The application program specifies if data scaling is used. The
MessageView terminal uses the following equation to scale data.

Y = mX + b

Where:

Y

= scaled display or entered value

m

= application scaling factor

X

= machine control values (raw data)

b

= application offset factor
