5.2.2.1 Configuring Link Loss Forwarding

Link Loss Forwarding (LLF) allows the 9145EMP to signal attached equipment that a link on the
corresponding port has gone down. This is done by bringing down the attached link. Each user
port has an attribute that tells the system if the port participates in Link Loss Forwarding.

For this release, LLF is supported for Network to User only. When you select Network to User,
the User Ports that participates in LLF will be disabled if the Network Port goes down.

To configure LLF, on the Functional Configuration screen for those network port modules, type 12
and press Enter. The LLF Configuration screen opens.

1. To enable or disable LLF on a particular user port, type the number of the port and press

Enter.

2. To configure LLF, type 5 and press Enter. Press the Space bar to select Enabled or

Disabled.

3. To accept the configuration, type A and press Enter.

4. Press Esc to return to the Functional Configuration screen
