scrambling-payload

scrambling-payload

To improve data reliability, randomize the ATM cell payload frames. This avoids continuous
non-variable bit patterns and improves the efficiency of the ATM’s cell delineation algorithms. To do
this, use the scrambling-payload command in interface configuration mode. The no form disables
scrambling.

Usage Guidelines

Normally, you do not issue the scrambling-payload command explicitly, because the default value is
sufficient. On T1 links, the default B8ZS line encoding normally assures sufficient reliability. The
scrambling setting must match that of the far end.

Examples

The following example shows scrambling-payload on ATM configuration:

Router(config)# interface ATM0/0/0

Router(config-if)# no ip address

Router(config-if)# no atm ilmi-keepalive

Router(config-if)# ima-group 0

Router(config-if)# scrambling-payload
