Setting Selectors

Begin by inserting your zig-zag stitch pattern

disc 1 onto your sewing machine, following the

steps given on page 47.

Before turning selector, make sure needle is out

of the fabric.

Needle Position Selector

Most of your zig-zag stitching will be done In

centre o needle position.

Left ^ and righ J> settings are used for special

stitch placement.

Stitch Width Selector

To produce a plain zig-zag or a decorative

stitch, the stitch width selector Is moved from

Its straight stitch position to any of its other

four positions. The further you move the

selector toward the right, the wider your stitch

will be.

Adjusting Stitch Length

Any stitch length setting from 1 to 4 will give

you an open zig-zag stitch.

The higher the number, the more open, or

farther apart your stitches will be.

The area between 0 and 1 on the dial is used for

the adjustment of zig-zag satin stitching, a series

of closely spaced plain zig-zag stitches that

form a smooth, satin-like surface. (Refer to

for information on satin stitching).
