Connecting to the Line

Overview

The iSPAN-Serial WAN adapter can be connected as data
terminal equipment (DTE) to a communication device such as
a modem, data service unit (DSU), host computer, or another
serial adapter. The communication device enables connection
to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), a leased
line, an X.25 network, or a Frame Relay network. The iSPAN-
Serial WAN adapter can also be connected as data
communications equipment (DCE) to another serial adapter in
a back-to-back configuration.

Through its DB25 connector, the iSPAN-Serial WAN adapter
can be connected to any communication device that provides a
V.24, V.35, or V.11 interface. Each interface type requires a
specific cable. The adapter detects the cable connected to its
DB25 connector and automatically configures itself to the
appropriate interface.
