Table 42. Supplicant Port Parameters

Parameter

Definition

Auth Period

Specifies the period of time in seconds
that the supplicant waits for a reply from
the authenticator after sending an EAP-
Response frame. The range is 1 to 300
seconds. The default is 30 seconds.

Held Period

Specifies the amount of time in seconds
the supplicant is to refrain from retrying to
re-contact the authenticator in the event
the end user provides an invalid
username and/or password. After the time
period has expired, the supplicant can
attempt to log on again. The range is 0 to
65,535 seconds. The default value is 60
seconds.

Max Start

Specifies the maximum number of times
the supplicant sends EAPOL-Start frames
before assuming that there is no
authenticator present. The range is 1 to
10. The default is 3.

Start Period

Specifies the time period in seconds
between successive attempts by the
supplicant to establish contact with an
authenticator when there is no reply. The
range is 1 to 60. The default is 30.

User Name

Specifies the username for the switch
port. The port sends the name to the
authentication server for verification when
the port logs on to the network. The
username can be from be from 1 to 16
alphanumeric characters (A to Z, a to z, 1
to 9). Do not use spaces or special
characters, such as asterisks or
exclamation points. The username is case
sensitive.
