3.30 ENGINE RADIATOR FILL PROCEDURE -

PERKINS & CATERPILLAR

DUE TO THE CONFIGURATION OF THE COOLING SYSTEM, SOME
ENGINES REQUIRE A SPECIAL RADIATOR FILL PROCEDURE.
FAILURE TO FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE CAN RESULT IN DAM-
AGE TO THE ENGINE.

THE FOLLOWING FILL PROCEDURE SHOULD ONLY BE PERFORMED
WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD.

ENGINE COOLANT IS UNDER PRESSURE. DO NOT REMOVE THE
RADIATOR CAP WHILE THE ENGINE IS WARM.

NOTE: If the radiator cap is removed at any time after the fol-

lowing steps are performed, coolant will flow out
regardless of whether the engine is cold or hot.

1.Remove the radiator cap and the reservoir cap.

2.Fill the radiator to the top. Allow enough time for the

coolant to properly settle into the radiator and add
coolant as necessary to top off the radiator.

3.Install the radiator cap back on the radiator.
