CAUTION: The underside of the processor has components that may damage the socket pins

if installed improperly. The processor must align correctly with the socket
opening before installation. Gently place the processor onto the socket surface.
Do not drop the processor into the socket!

2.

Remove the socket protective cover by grasping the cover tab and pulling it away

from the load plate. Store the protective cover for future use. (Figure 21, “A”)

Orient the processor with the socket so that the processor cutouts match the socket

notches. (

Gently place the processor in the socket. (“B”)

Close the load plate.

Close the socket lever and ensure that the load plate tab engages under the socket

lever when fully closed. (“B” and “C”)

Inserting the Heat Sink

1. If this is a new heat sink (not the one you removed above), remove the protective

film, if present, on the Thermal Interface Material (TIM) located on the bottom of
the heat sink.

2. Set the heat sink over the processor, lining up the four captive screws with the

four posts surrounding the processor. Align the heat sink fins to the front and back
