Data Formatting Examples

7.2.1 Formatting Data from Multiple Scales

Data from multiple scales can be streamed or polled using one or several formats, to one or more comm ports.

For example, given a four-scale system with the following data format assigned to FMT1:

FMT1=<SC><P><W7.><S>

All four scales can be set up to stream data to the same communications port (COM1).

SC1.STREAM=COM1

SC2.STREAM=COM1

SC3.STREAM=COM1

SC4.STREAM=COM1

All four scales can also be set up to stream data using FMT1.

SC1.SFMT=FMT1

SC2.SFMT=FMT1

SC3.SFMT=FMT1

SC4.SFMT=FMT1

This configuration will output a string of four concatenated FMT1 frames, one for each scale. Assuming all scales
are at zero, the output at COM1 might look like the following:

1 0Z 2 0Z 3 0Z 4 0Z

7.2.2 Using the Start/Stop Streaming Commands

The SX (start streaming for all scales) and EX (stop streaming for all scales) can be used to toggle streaming and
off for the scale system. Individual scale output can also be included or excluded from the streamed output using
the SCs.SX and SCs.EX commands to start or stop the output from Scale s.

For example, given the four-scale concatenated stream described above, Scale 1 could be excluded by using the
SC1.EX command:

2 0Z 3 0Z 4 0Z

Or, to restore the Scale 1 output but exclude Scale 3 output from the streamed data:

SC1.SX

SC3.EX

1 0Z 2 0Z 4 0Z

7.2.3 Encapsulating Data with Prefix and Postfix Characters

Prefix and postfix characters can be added to streamed or polled output from a specified communications port.
Specify the decimal value of the ASCII character to add on the prefix and postfix character commands shown
below:

COM1.STRM.PREF=2

COM1.STRM.POST=3

<STX>1 0.00Z SCALE2: 0.00 0.00Z DIAG:.<ETX>
