Section 3: The Play Mode

The PLAY Mode islhe main performance mode of the FX770. Y ou may select and recall all Preset and User Effect Programs
here as well as control any programmed foot controllers or footswitches. Individual Effect On/Off is also available via the
Effect Select buttons or via the remote FSl. The PLAY Mode is entered by pressing the [PLAY] function key and is verified
with it’s own LED located above the [PLAY] key.

Also available in this mode are the Bypass and built-in Tuner functions. These features are selected by pressing the

[BYPASS] function key. The built-in Tuner is automatically engaged when the [BYPASS] function key is pressed while

in the PLAY mode. The [PLAY] key is also used to select Program Areas. Repeated pressing toggles between User and
Preset Program Areas, and the Program Area LED indicates the current status.

MAIN PROGRAM DISPLAY IN THE PLAY MODE

The main Program display on the LCD contains the following information:

Patch Display

The Program Title contains the name that has been assigned to this particular Program. Title editing is available

for the User Programs only, please read section 4.3 for instruction regarding Title Edit.

The Patch Display shows the currently used Patch Configuration of the MOD, DELA Y, and REVERB effects blocks.

This corresponds to one of the 4 Patch Types offered in the Patch Select Edit Mode. Section 4.1 details the Patch

Select procedure and options.

The Bank Name relates to the MIDI Bank selected on the MIDI Program Change Table. Section 5.1 explains how

MIDI Bank is used.

3.1 TO SELECT AND RECALL A PROGRAM

From the 100-Preset Programs and the 100-User Programs, select and recall the one that you want to use.

1. To enter PLAY Mode, press the [PLAY] function key. Play mode is verified with it’s own LED.

2. Press the [PLAY] function key again to select the Program Area.

The [PRESET] LED or [USER] LED on the right side of Program Number will light up.

3. Turn the [DATA WHEEL] to select the desired Program. The number on the Program Number LED will change

and the Program title and the used Patch will be shown on the LCD display.

Turn the [DATA WHEEL] slowly to change the number one step at a time, turn the [DATA WHEEL] quickly
to change the number rapidly.

3.2 EFFECT BLOCK ON/OFF

Press the [EFFECT SELECT] key to switch the Effect block ON/OFF. The corresponding LED confirms which

Effect block is On.
