Section 6: Remote Control

• Volume contror(CONTROL CHANGE, ACTIVE SENSING)

The FX770 has a volume (MIDI volume) independent from Programs. You cannot edit this volume level as a
parameter, but you can control it using MIDI Control Change message. This volume always follows the most recent
Control message, and does not change its value when another Program is recalled.

1. Set the channel in “5.5 MIDI Channel” on page 26 so the channel matches that of the MIDI transmission device.

Selecting “OMNI” will send the data on all channels.

2. Set the MIDI CTRL Source (“5.6 MIDI Controller 1 & 2 Source Assignment” on page 26) to match the control

number of the MIDI transmission device.

3. Select “VOLUME” in “4.6 MIDI Controller 1 & 2 Effect Target” on page 19, and set the range.

4.

Set the volume position in “4.4 FCl Volume Control Position” on page 17.

5. Connect the MIDI transmission device to the MIDI IN port on the rear panel.

The setting in “4.4 FCl Volume Control Position” also affects the volume controlled through the VOLUME port.
That is, there are two volume controls at one position.
Set the MIDI volume level to its maximum in the following cases to prevent the volume from remaining unexpectedly

low.
• When the power is turned on
• When you recalled a Program that does not use the MIDI volume
• When you changed a Program so that it will not use the MIDI volume
• When you changed the MIDI volume controller setting
• When the MIDI cable was disconnected (Active Sensing was interrupted)
• When the MIDI signal is not being transmitted correctly

• Using the MFC06 to turn the effect on/off

You can use the Yamaha MFC06 (Footcontroller) to turn the FX770 effects on/off.
Assign switches 1-5 of the MFC06 to 9 effect blocks of the FX770.

1. Set the MIDI channel (“5.5 MIDI Channel” on page 26) to “OMNI” or “1.”

2. Set the effect on/off assignment (“5.7 MFC06 Effect On/Off Assignment” on page 27).

3. Connect the MFC06 to the MIDI IN port of the rear panel.

• Bulk Dump (EXCLUSIVE MESSAGE)

You can send three types of Bulk Dump message; Memory, Bank, and System. The FX770 can receive them in Play
mode and Edit mode. The received data is used to change the current settings inside the FX770.

MEMORY:

Writes the received Program into the specified Program number.

BANK:

Writes the received data into the specified BANK.

SYSTEM:

Writes the received data to the basic FX770 settings usually found in Utility mode.

1. Set the channel in “5.5 MIDI Channel” on page 26 so that the channel will match that in the Bulk Dump data.

Selecting “OMNI” will send the data on all channels.

2. Connect the MIDI transmission device to the MIDI IN port on the rear panel.

Send the Bulk Dump message in “5.8 MIDI Bulk Data Output” on page 27.
You can connect two FX770s to swap the data. In this case, set the MIDI channel on both units to the same number.

• Switching the Bank (EXCLUSIVE MESSAGE)

Switches the Bank.

1. Set the channel in “5.5 MIDI Channel” on page 26 so the channel matches that in the Bulk Dump data. Selecting

“OMNI” will send the data on all channels.

2. Connect the MIDI transmission device to the MIDI IN port on the rear panel.

The FX770 cannot send a message to switch the Bank. Use a computer to do this.
