Statement 8:

CAUTION:
Never remove the cover on a power supply or any part that has the following label attached.

Hazardous voltage, current, and energy levels are present inside any component that has this label
attached. There are no serviceable parts inside these components. If you suspect a problem with one
of these parts, contact a service technician.

Removing the power supply

To remove the power supply, complete the following steps.
1.

Read the safety information in “Important Safety Information” on page 1 and “Guidelines for trained
service technicians” on page 115.

2.

Disconnect the ac power cord from the connector on the power supply. Disconnect all external cables
from the server.

3.

Remove the server from the rack and remove the cover (see “Removing and installing the cover” on
page 119).
Attention:

To ensure proper cooling and airflow, do not operate the server for more than 30 minutes

with the cover removed.

4.

Remove the DIMM air baffle (see “Removing and installing the DIMM air baffle” on page 121).

5.

Disconnect the power-supply cables from the connectors on the system board and from all devices;
then, disengage the cables from any retention-clips that secure them to the side of the power-supply.

Note:

Note the routing of all power-supply cables; you will route the power-supply cables the same

way when you install the power supply.

6.

Remove the screw 2 that holds the power supply 1 to the rear of the chassis.
