SPANNING-TREE PORTFAST
Syntax
spanning-tree portfast <cr>|bpdu-filter|bpdu-guard
no spanning-tree portfast
Parameters
<cr> Enables fast transitions.
bpdu-filter Specifies the portfast bpdu-filter for the interface.
bpdu-guard Guards the interface against reception of BPDUs.
Description
Use the SPANNING-TREE PORTFAST command to enable fast
transitions on an interface. Use the no form of this command to reset the
command to its default value.

The following commands assigns interface 5 to a portfast bpdu-filter:
switch#configure terminal
switch(config)#interface xe5
switch(config-if)#spanning-tree portfast bpdu-filter
