To save a root certificate on a local computer

1. In FactoryTalk View ME Studio, select Tool > Domain Certificate. Domain

Controller Root Certificate window opens.

2. In the Domain Server area, complete the following fields:

In the Enter domain server name or IP address field, enter the server name or
IP address of the domain server. If the computer is already in a domain, the utility
automatically detects and shows the domain server address in this field.

In the Port field, enter the port of the domain server for LDAP over SSL. The
default value is 636.

3. In the Certificate area, click the Browse (...) button to specify where the certificate

file will be stored. The default location is:

\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data (Windows XP or
Windows Server 2003)

\ProgramData (Windows Server 2012, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7,
Windows Server 2008, or Windows Vista)

The default file name is domainserver.cer, where domainserver is the domain server
name or IP address.

To correctly run Domain Controller Root Certificate utility, make sure .NET Framework version
3.5 or higher is already installed on your computer.

You can use the Domain Controller Root Certificate utility to obtain certificates only when the
utility is installed on a computer that is in the domain.
