♦ AES/EBU and Y2 format digital I/O terminals are installed

Besides the XLR type analog I/O terminals which are commonly used in professional applications, digital I/O
terminals for AES/EBU format and Y2 format are installed.
The installation of this kind of digital I/O terminals makes it easier to combine the unit with systems that transmit

audio signals in the digital range.

♦ RS-485 control bus

The RS-485 control bus is a communication standard of a bus type which is used for both transmission and
reception. Employing this communication standard can increase the system by connecting a maximum of 23
separately purchased DEQSEs, in serial with one DEQ5 used as a control master for the controll of all the DEQ5Es.
This makes it possible to communicate over maximum distances of a few hundred meters.
As the RS-485 terminal employs a XLR type connector system, control data can be transmitted or received with the

cable for XLR type connector systems, without having to separately use a special connector cable (*).
Please see the page explaining “RS-485” for the details regarding the communication standard.

* For RS-485 data transmission (especially for long distance transmission), it is recommended that a cable with

impedance characteristics between 90 and 120Q is used to prevent signal deterioration during transmissions.

♦ Built in 240

X

64 dot graphic LCD

The built in 240 x 64 dot, large sized graphic LCD makes it easy to check the frequency characteristic chart
visually during graphic EQ and parametric EQ processing, and also improves various other setting operations.

♦ Time code event function

A time code event function, which can automate the recall operation of a program number stored on the received
time code in advance, is installed.
This makes complicated connections unnecessary as well as changing the settings of all the peripheral equipment,

which before were necessary for automation during auto-mix operation based on the time code. This increases
auto-mix operation efficiency.

♦ MIDI I/O terminal

Using a MIDI I/O terminal enables control among others of memory recall and parameter change of the main unit
from external controllers, such as a MIDI sequencer or computer.
A Bulk dump function is also installed, which enables transmission and reception of various data with a MIDI

sequencers or computers capable of recording bulk data, or another DEQ5.

♦ Memory protect and key protect functions

The switch to select the memory protect, which prevents loss of data stored inside the main unit memory, and the
key protect, which does not accept the key switch operation (*) on the front panel, are installed on the rear panel.
This prevents problems such as losing data accidentally, or changing parameter setting conditions (*) by touching

the key switch accidentally.

* The power supply switch, the control for adjusting analog I/O levels and the “THRU” switch are excluded.
