RS-485

1. RS-485

RS-485 is an interface standard, established by the Electronic Industrial Association of the USA, for multi-point
communications.

The familiar RS-232C is also an EIA standard. Compared with RS-232, RS-485 features long distance (*)

high speed transmission with equilibrium electric transmission and multi-point communication.

*

Long distance transmission is possible equally for either transmission speed 38400, or 9600 baud.

However, the quality of the cable used or other factor might impair the long distance data transmissions.
Avoid using unnecessarily long cable if the equipment is close to each other and try to use a reliable cable if

long distance transmission is required.

<RS-485 enables bus construction/structure>

RS-485 standards are the electrical characteristics for high speed communication. It is not necessarily to commu
nicate among all the equipment provided with RS-485.

It is possible to communicate with another DEQ5 or DEQ5E through the RS-485 provided in the unit, but it is

not possible to communicate control data with the equipment with other transmission formats.
However, for equipment other than DEQ5 or DEQ5E (personal computer or the equivalent equipment) with start

up software to control DEQ5 through RS-485 this is not the case. (*)

* Please use a conversion unit between the RS-232C or RS-422, and RS-485 formats.
