This section describes the event notification messages for each severity.
A.2.1 Common Terms
The following table shows components and terms that are used in A.2.2 to A.2.4
Abbreviation Meaning Description
CM Controller Module Units that control all the operations in the device.
CE Controller Enclosure
A cabinet to install the CMs, which are the main control sec-
tions of the ETERNUS DX Disk storage system.
DE Drive Enclosure Cabinets for installing disks.
FE Expander Front-end Expander
A module in CE that provides communication path between
CMs.
BE Expander Back-end Expander
A module in CE that provides communication path between
CM and DE.
DI Drive Interface Back-end interface module on CMs.
SCU
System Capacitor
Unit
A device in a CM that supplies power to back up the cache
memory data in the non-volatile memory when a power
failure occurs.
SFP
Small Form Factor
Pluggable
An SFP module that is installed in the host interface port.
EXP Expander Abbreviation for expanders.
DE Expander DE Expander
A module in DE that provides communication path between
CM and DE.
PSU Power Supply Unit Power supply units for units in CEs or DEs.
