Removing the Card jam in the Printer’s Magnetic Encoding Area

Symptom: A card is jammed in the magnetic encoding area of the Printer.

Step Procedure

Clear the jammed card.

a. Open the Print and Transfer Station.

b. Use the arrows on the LCD panel to move the card forward or backward to

free the card.

Inspect the Card Feed Roller Motors for proper operation.
a. Leave the power ON and open the Print and Transfer Stations.

b. Press the FORWARD button to advance the card or the BACK button to

reverse the card. Use these buttons to move the card through the Encoder.

Ensure that the cards are feeding into the Encoding Module properly.

a. Reset power on the Printer to clear any error messages.

b. Open the Front Access Door.

c. Select the Menu from the LCD.

d. Select the Print Test Image from the menu.

e. Select the Magnetic Test from the menu.

f. A card is then fed from the input hopper onto the Flipper Table and rotated

into the Encoding Module.

g. If the card appears to jam against the components of the encoding

assembly, the Flipper Offset may need to be adjusted.

Adjust the Flipper Offset.

a. Select the Menu on the LCD Display.

b. Select the Setup Printer. Scroll down to the Flipper Offset.
c. Change the setting on small increments. (Note: A positive adjustment will

lower the side of the Flipper Table closest to the Exit Hopper.)

d. Press Select to save the new value.
