Working with Diagnostic Commands

Setting a Boot Parameter

You use the

diagnostic set boot_parameter

command to set

a controller boot-time parameter to a specific value. Under normal
conditions, boot-time parameters are not set. You usually set a boot-
time parameter at the request of a technical support person.

Before setting a boot-time parameter, use the

diagnostic show

boot_parameter

command to display information about the

desired parameter. Due to the unique use of boot-time parameters,
an example

diagnostic show boot_parameter

command is

not provided in this document.

To set a boot-time parameter on an open controller, use the

diagnostic set boot_parameter

command. Due to the

unique use of boot-time parameters, an example

diagnostic set

boot_parameter

command is not provided in this document.

After running the

diagnostic set boot_parameter

command

to set a boot-time parameter, use the

diagnostic show

boot_parameter

command to display the boot-time parameter

value.

Setting the Interrupt Count

You use the

diagnostic moderation set count

command to

set the default interrupt count on a controller. The interrupt count is
the number of outstanding I/O requests on the controller needed
before an interrupt delay time takes effect, sending an interrupt to
the host computer.

Before setting the interrupt count, use the

diagnostic

moderation show count

command to display the current

interrupt count, as in the following example. In the example, the
The moderation count is currently set to

line indicates that the

interrupt count is set to 500 I/O requests.

HPN0> diagnostic moderation show count

Executing: diagnostic show Count

The moderation count is currently set to 500.

To set the interrupt count, use the

diagnostic moderation set

count

command, as in the following example. In the example, the

diagnostic moderation set count

command sets the interrupt count

to 100 I/O requests.
