Using Network Diagnostics

8-3

The flashing number indicates the processor address you are monitoring. If you are

using a 1784-KL, 1784-KT, or 1784-KT2, the screen displays the terminal name

next to the communication board type at the appropriate station number.

To specify a device to attach to or to specify a device for diagnostics, place the

cursor on the device you want and press the appropriate function key.

Table 8.B lists the tasks you can perform from the WHO active screen.

Display station diagnostics information. Diagnostic counters are

read from the highlighted station. This screen may vary depending

on the processor type or device type from which counters are read.

See page 8-5 through page 8-9.

F3

Display highlighted processor status.

F4

Status

Select, create, delete, or modify the communication device

configuration you want to use for communicating on DH and

DH+ networks.

F5

Device

Select timing test. The timing test monitors how long it takes to

send and receive various size messages to a specific station’s

communication module or processor. You use this information to

optimize system response times by keeping your packet sizes within

a specific range.

Note:

The information obtained during this test is valid only as long

as the DH+ configuration and the amount of traffic on the link

remain constant.

F6
