Installing a SCSI device in the 3.5-inch device bay

The 3.5-inch device bay is capable of incorporating a maximum of
2 built-in type 3.5-inch SCSI devices.

When installing a SCSI device, first read “Before you start” of this
chapter and follow the instructions given below.

1 If the server is in operation, shut it down and switch off the

power.

2 Unplug the power cable.

NOTE: Installation of a SCSI device while the server is turned

on may cause damage to the server or the SCSI device.

3 Remove the front door panel and side panel.

See “Removing and replacing the server panels” on page 21.

4 Enter the SCSI ID of the SCSI device to be installed.

5 Disconnect the power cable and signal cable from the hard

disk drive and the floppy disk drive.

6 Remove the two screws securing the drive carrier. While

pressing the latch down, slide the drive carrier in the direction
of the server’s front side and remove it.
