About the device logs

Using the device logs provided, record information about the sys-
tem including its added or removed optional devices. This
information is sometimes required for the setup utility of the
server.

In the basic system configuration log, record the model number
and serial number of the server and its motherboard. The model
number and serial number of the server are marked on the label
affixed at the rear of the server, and those of the motherboard are
inscribed near the expansion card panel at the left end of the
motherboard.

In the system component logs, record the model numbers, serial
numbers, date of replacement or date of removal, manufacturers,
etc. of the corresponding components, including magnetic disc
drives and expansion cards added to your system.

The positions where the model number and serial numbers of sys-
tem components are inscribed vary from manufacturer to
manufacturer. For the positions, refer to their respective manuals.
