V.8

V.34

Declares the usable modulation
mode.
Declares that V.34 capability exists
on each machine, and transfers the
V.34 procedures with phase 2.

After declaring the modem's
modulation speed capacity, etc. to
each machine, the receiving side
determines the modulation speed
based on the results of an probing
signal output by the transmitting
side.

The transmitting side outputs a
training signal to determine the
image transmission speed.

The optimum image transfer speed
is determined by the condition in
which the training signal is received.

The pre-message protocol is done
in the same way as a normal T.30,
at 1200bps.

The training signal is output with the
determined parameters, and
continues to transmit the image
data.

The post-message protocol is done
in the same way as a normal T.30,
at 1200bps.
