Editing or Deleting a Sample Point

This section will describe how the operator may edit or delete an existing sample point. The operator should have the
ability to edit or delete any sample point that is present in the view page. Due to the lack of a pointing device on the
current SmartPad, we will require the operator to drive towards the point they wish to edit or delete. We will use the
Alarm Range value to determine when to place the Edit Sample and Delete Sample buttons in the button bar. This fea-
ture will work regardless of the Alarm menu item status. The operator may want to turn the alarm off but still be able
to edit or delete Sample points.

Figure 4 -47 shows the vehicle driving to with in the Alarm Range of a sample point. The left side of this figure shows
the button bar as it would appear if no points were with in range. Once a sample point is with in range, the Delete
Sample point and Edit Sample point buttons are placed in the button bar, right side Figure 4 -47. The Sample Point
with in the Alarm range should also have its point number displayed next to the point in the view page. The informa-
tion bar located at the bottom the of the view page will also alternate between the quick help message of the high-
lighted button and the sample point information. If there are more than one sample point with in the Alarm Range, the
closest point information will be displayed and will be subject to either editing or deleting.

Editing a Sample Point

Once the operator has the Sample point they choose to edit with in range, they arrow down and highlight the Edit

Sample button and press

. This will bring up the Sample Name dialog, Figure 4 -48, with the current point sample

name in the edit box. The operator can now change the sample name and then press to accept. Once

is pressed the

Sample Number dialog will appear, Figure 4 -49, again the operator can edit the current number and the press

to

accept. If either the Sample Number or Sample name has been set to OFF in the Data Setup menu, then that dialog
will no be presented to the operator. If both Sample Name and Sample Number are set to off, the Edit Sample point
button will not be placed in the button bar when a sample point falls with in the Alarm Range.
