About Mapper Real-Time Mapping

Once you have properly setup the Mapper application by running through the setup process, the next step is to start
the Mapper real-time process. Figure 5-11 shows the Launcher Main Menu on the left side. The user will highlight

the Mapper menu item and press

. This will bring up the Mapper Main Menu, right side of Figure 5-11. To start

the real-time Mapper process, highlight the Start Mapper menu item in the Main Menu page and press

, Figure 5-

12.

After

is pressed to start the Mapper real-time process the operator will have to enter file names for the Map File

and the boundary file. The boundary file name menu will only appear if the boundary option was turned on in Data
setup see Figure 5-4. Using Figure 5-12 as an example the operator has setup Mapper to Create a Boundary file and
the Map file will automatically appear. The Map file option does not have the option of ON / OFF this is why the Data
Card must be inserted in the SmartPad II to run the Mapper application, a .gmf file will always be stored to the card.
Therefore prior to pressing the Go menu item to start the real-time mapping, the user will need to select or enter new
Map file and Boundary file names. Once the filenames have been properly selected, the user highlights the Go menu
item and presses the enter button to start real-time mapping. Because the user has elected to create a new field bound-
ary, the Map Boundary icon will be displayed in the side button bar, Figure 5-13.

For more information about the Data Setup menu See “Data Setup” on page 4..
