pass. Once you do this, the recording pass will disappear from the list, while previous re-
do-able edits will remain, only grayed out.

You can, however, click “No” in the warning dialog box, and the operations, including
the recording pass, will be undone (and become grayed out on the History list), but the
audio will not be lost. Those edit operations, including the recording pass, can be re-done
by moving back down the History List, as long as you don’t perform another edit
operation or recording pass. The audio can also be accessed from the Regions list.

• If you undo across a Recording Pass – one with some entries before (even if it’s only Top

Level) and after it, the recording will disappear from the track area and the Playlist, but
the audio will remain on the Region List should you want to drag it back in at some time
in the future. It’s like answering “No” in the above scenario only you don’t have the
opportunity to answer “Yes”.

• The History List itself is not saved with the Playlist or the Project. It only exists as a

working list as long as the current Playlist is open.

• The History List is purged of all contents whenever a Playlist is opened. This opening of

the Playlist can occur when you first create your Project, anytime you re-open a
previously saved and closed Project, or anytime you use the Playlist Manager to
expressly open an old or new Playlist. Only the

Save Playlist As…

command allows

you to carry your History List from one Playlist to another, and still the History List is
not saved with old Playlist during this operation.

Versions
Keep in mind that the History List allows you to retreat from almost anywhere, but once you
retreat and start editing again that edits that you have undone cannot be redone. In other words,
there are points in the process where making a decision, really is a decision. Of course, that does
not mean you can't keep several versions of your Project. If you want to capture your session
before going back to a previous point in the History List, then use -

Playlist |

Save Playlist As…

This command closes your current Playlist, leaving that Playlist as it is at that moment (however
while purging its History List as well), then opens a new Playlist with the current History List
intact so you can continue down whatever course you think might work. Always remember that
simply opening a new Playlist purges the History List from the current Playlist; so only use Save
Playlist As… if you want to carry on with the History List intact.
