passwords, but if you don’t tell it that this is an anonymous login, it won't let you connect. On the
Internet, your e-mail address is usually used as the password for an anonymous FTP login as a
courtesy to the owner of the host system, but the recorder isn’t going to check you out or send
you SPAM. You really don’t need to enter a password.

If there is a “Directory” setting, set it to “C”. This will start you off looking at the files on the
recorder’s internal hard drive.

Once you’ve set up a profile for the recorder, whenever you want to connect, simply select that
profile and click on the Connect button.

We know you’re excited to try it out now that you’re done all of this setup, but first, reboot your
computer one more time for luck. We’ve found that many people attempt to connect immediately
after installing and setting up an FTP program or changing the computer’s TCP/IP settings, and
find that the computer and recorder don’t talk. More often that not, it starts working after a
reboot.

Making The FTP Connection

Connect your CROSSOVER Ethernet cable between the computer’s and recorder’s Ethernet ports,
then start the FTP server on the recorder.

From the front panel - press the SYSTEM button, then Select

Run FTP.

From the GUI – Pull down the File menu, then select Run FTP Server.

Don’t press (or click on) the Continue button just yet! That doesn’t mean “Continue with the FTP
procedure”, it means “Continue using the HDR24/96 as a recorder” (which is currently disabled).
The FTP server takes over when it’s running and you can’t do anything else while you’re transferring
files. When you’re finished with your FTP session, that’s the time to press the Continue button to get
back to recording.

With the recorder’s FTP
server running, start up
the FTP client on your
computer, select the
recorder’s profile, and
click on the Connect
button. You should be
in!

Here’s what a connection
with WS_FTP looks like:

The top window shows
the directory on the
computer (currently
empty) and the bottom
window shows the
directory on the
HDR24/96 internal
drive.
