Remote Jack

This looks just like an RJ-45 Ethernet jack, which in fact it is, but it has a dedicated purpose – for
connecting a Remote 24 or Remote 48 remote controller. Don’t connect this one to your Ethernet
network or computer, and don’t connect your computer to the Remote jack. Neither will work.

Footswitch Jack

This ¼” jack is for connecting a standard momentary contact normally-open switch. It could be a
pushbutton mounted in your console, but we figured that having a switch to stomp on when you
wanted to punch in and had both hands busy with an instrument would come in mighty handy.
Besides, foot switches are readily available at your local music store. See the General Setup to see
what you can do with a switch plugged into this jack.

Accessory Slots

Who knows what our Engineering department might dream up? So we left them some room on the
chassis for future goodies. Stay tuned.

Remote 48 Connections

Remote Cabling
The Remote 48 uses standard CAT-5 Ethernet cabling and can be located up to 30 feet from the
HDR24/96. Although the Remote 48 uses CAT-5 Ethernet cable, the Remote cable length cannot
be extended through Ethernet Hubs or repeaters.

Footswitch Jack
The Remote 48 footswitch jack has the same functionality as the Remote 24 footswitch jack. The
function of this jack is controlled by the Footswitch Remote parameter in the GUI Setup General
window or the LCD System display menu. When a Remote 24 is connected to the Remote 48,
both Remote footswitch jacks are active, and for practical purposes can be considered as
electrically parallel to each other. You can use one or both at the same time.

HDR24/96 & Remote 24 Connections

Thru
If you have a Remote 24, connect it to the Remote 48 Thru jack. The Remote 24 and Remote
48 will work in parallel in the same way that the Remote 48 works in parallel with the front
panel and GUI controls, except that the Remote 24 can control the track arming functions of
only the first 24 tracks.

To HDR
Connect the Remote 48 “To HDR” jack to the HDR24/96 “Remote” jack using the supplied
CAT 5 cable. Alternately, you can supply your own CAT 5 cabling.
